Its picnic season and I’m ready for loads of al fresco dining! I’m one of those people who heads out whenever there’s a glimmer of sunshine so if its not raining but a bit dull outside, you’ll find me in a park with my cool bag.
I’m pretty consistent in what I bring on a picnic:
- Sandwich
- Hard boiled egg or cheese
- Fruit
- Cut up veggies
- Crisps
- Chocolate or cake
- Drink
That’s all. Nothing exciting. It suits me partly because I have to carry it all, and partly because if I have to prepare fancy food, most likely the Lady won’t eat it.
Don’t get me wrong, I have been creative for picnics. I’ve made quiches, cold pasta salad, spanikopita, and egg muffins, but generally, a cheese sandwich cut in small bites goes down best.
But, if your little one (and big one) is a bit more adventurous, why not give some of these food ideas a go:
Pasties and hand pies
Skewers and kababs
Sushi
Falafel
What’s your favourite picnic food? Share your ideas so I can make my picnics that much more exciting!
Bon appetito everyone!
